Product Description
On NBC’s hit TV show The Biggest Loser, trainer Kim Lyons encouraged, cajoled, and inspired her team members to change their lives. And they did, not only losing an incredible amount of weight in the process, but gaining a world of knowledge about fitness, nutrition, and enjoying an all-around healthy lifestyle. Now Kim is leading the way again, ready to work that same magic on everyone. Her totally life-changing new guide, bursting with color illustrations, presents Kim’s tested program for optimizing your health . . . in just 12 short weeks! You’ll feel almost as if she’s right there, working with you. Kim, who received her personal training certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine, puts her time-tested, fat-burning circuit-training system and solid, comprehensive nutrition plan right at your fingertips. She understands the psychological and practical barriers facing those starting a new program, and offers simple strategies to help anyone adopt and maintain a healthier lifestyle. Every aspect of fitness and nutrition is explained, such as the role of genetics, metabolism, and body type in achieving success; the importance of meal planning and journaling; and how to exercise to maximize your time and increase your calorie burn. To illustrate her key points, many of Lyons’ clients tell their uplifting personal stories, and Lyons herself answers a wide range of “burning questions.” At the end of each chapter, a “Homework” section sets out several goals to achieve be they mental, physical, or emotional that reinforce key points learned in that chapter.

Get Toned...at Home! November 22, 2008 I love this book! Kim offers fun and challenging circuit training exercise about 4-5X per week (including cardio 1 - 2X per week), that get progressively harder over the three - month program. Within about a couple weeks I was already seeing some serious muscle definition showing up in my shoulders and biceps, then abs and some nice firm glutes and quads. She tackles all areas of weight loss including psychological, nutritional and physical aspects. She encourages you to keep a journal and do her homework exercises to prepare you mentally. She speaks in a very supportive, non-judgemental tone and its almost like she's right there with you every step of the way.
The program is 3 months long, but you can use it for life by repeatedly doing the 3 month program. The other bonus is that you can do the circuit training in the comfort of your own home. All you need is a yoga/exercise mat, a stopwatch, and some light hand weights. Awesome for me because I easily find a reason not to go to the gym and I ususally end up paying my gym membership fees for nothing! But, with this I can do my circuit training infront of the TV...talk about multitasking!
She does provide an excellently balanced meal plan with some delicious, easy-to-prepare recipes. However, I have a problems with controlling my cravings and a bit of a food addiction/binge eating so diet is the hardest part for me. Kim has exceptional self-control in that area...she only eats a snack-size M&Ms when she is PMSing or having serious cravings. I don't have that willpower so I am using another book, The No Crave Diet, for that. I HIGHLY recommend The No Crave Diet book for anyone who has trouble with self-control and cravings for the diet part of Kim's book. I think the combination of these two books is the ticket for ending my life-long quest for a healthy weight and looking and feeling great.
Anyway, the bottom line is Kim's book is the best there is for quick and beautiful results right at home...besides having your own personal trainer!
Kim Lyons, your body, your life November 3, 2008 Excellent book. Really gets to the meat of the human body in terms that everyone can understand. Brings us back to the body basics!
YOUR BODY,YOUR LIFE September 16, 2008 Very interesting information, she has a style of writing that you can understand and do not feel that your beneath a snakes belly. You understand what you need to change in order for you to become the person you want to be.
Excellent book....great tips August 26, 2008 I am a fan of Kim's and I've often read Lara's articles in Self, M&F Hers, etc., so I was very happy to see this book come out. Kim's considerate and smart coaching style really came out in this book; the one thing I love about her is that she seems so kind for someone so beautiful. They both did a superb job on this book.
The recipies were my favorite part and they were very yummy (although some looked better in the book than in my kitchen). The excercises were good although my favorite parts were the nutritional information and motivation segments.
Definitely a must have for anyone trying to improve their diets and/or excercise programs.
She makes me feel as if she is explaining this in person to me! June 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I really enjoyed reading this book. I'm a fan of "The Biggest Loser", so I wanted to read her thoughts on weight loss. The book is well-written and very easy to read. The book is divided into four subjects: It's All About You(Gear, Mind, Body, Goals; Journals; Fitness); Your Workout(Exercises); Your Nutrition (Food; Meal Planning); Your Future. I found the section on posture(Chapter 2) to be interesting. She goes into the different types of posture, which is helpful to me.....I have a swayback posture. She lists the muscles that I would need to work on to correct this bad posture. I haven't found too many authors who expound on this subject in a diet book. At the end of each chapter, she gives you "homework." Suggestions to help you prepare for this program, which ultimately is a lifestyle change. These suggestions are not mandatory, or hard to do. I am finding the "homework" is helping me to plan better and be well organized in my approach to beginning this program. This was lacking in my earlier attempts at losing weight. She is very big on planning and writing things down. There are three levels of weight training exercises, and there are some stretching moves. There are pictures of her performing each step to an exercise so that you do it correctly. I can't say that the information in this book is new, but it is the way that she presents it that makes the difference to me along with a few things that she does personally to motivate herself. I feel that the book is written as if she were sitting in a room explaining this in person to me. I felt her enthusiasm as I was reading. I've read other good diet books, but I can honestly say that I didn't feel any real enthusiasm coming from the authors. I think that this is a good book. She shows you how to safely go about losing weight, being healthy, and keeping the weight off for good. I highly recommend it.
