Product Description With a friendly writing style and abundant illustrations, Pronunciation Made Simple (formerly English Pronunciation for International Students) helps students understand and achieve the pronunciation patterns of native English speakers. Appropriate for both classroom use and self-study, this confidence-building text motivates students to practice their skills outside the classroom.

wortless book November 20, 2008 Hi, do not buy this book, it is wortless.
You need teacher's CD to really hear correct sound and practice one particular sound. From student's CD you will never teach you correct isolated sound, which you need practice.
Teacher's CD has only lang. department on Miamidade coll., they want you to spend money on courses in class with other 40 people once a week repeating like crowd of canary. Look for some other book with better CD.
Fast shipping as expecting October 24, 2008 Delivery faster than i expected. 2 CDs included don't cover the whole exercises in the book. If you'd like to practice more, you need to buy another set of CDs. (about 3-4CDs excluding the first 2 coming with the book).
Anyway, i bought it 'cause it's my clas material.
Excellent tools for teaching better American English pronunciation and "accent reduction" September 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book does fulfill its title, promising to make English pronunciation simple! There are 3 parts: 1) vowels, 2)stress, rhythm, and intonation, and 3) consonants. The second section on "stress, rhythm, and intonation" is shorter compared to some other books, but I think it's very concise. Each section follows a consistent, logical format, including presenting individual words, then phrases, and then complete sentences. I only disagreed with a few parts of the book, about 5% perhaps. There were a few words included that don't match the traditional pronunciation that I have always known. Subtleties for softening the 't' sound on unaccented syllables isn't included. Plus, the section on intonation tries to project an intonation style that doesn't always seem natural to me. However, the example dialogs, prose selections and variety of poems serve a teacher and student well for a variety of examples. The book comes with 2 CD's for individual self-study. These 2 CD's cover parts of the book, but not every single exercise exhaustively. The other exercises are covered on 4 other CD's available separately. I teach ESL, American English pronunciation, and accent reduction in the Dallas, TX area. My website is www.EnglishAmericanStyle.com. To sum it up, I think this book presents a logical, fresh and varied resource for teaching, modeling, and helping students improve their pronunciation.
Audio CDs not included March 13, 2008 Great book. However, it is true that it only contains 2 cds for the check yourself exercises. It is actually missing other 4 cds that are really expensive ($84!) for the rest of the exercises. It is a shame.
Caution May 25, 2007 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
A word of caution. The ad states, "Free audio CD includes all the exercises in the Student Book, providing a model of correct pronunciation for each sound." The audio CD's that are included do not cover all of the excersises in this book. These CD's only cover the "check yourself" section at the end of the book. You have to order a separate book and Audio Program to get all of the excersises.
