Extremely helpful. November 17, 2008 I think Rick Lamb provides such a service with his perspective as a reporter and as a student of horsemanship. He is able to communicate clearly with great summaries. I would highly recommend this book along with the book he co-authored with Dr. Robert Miller, Revolution in Horsemanship. Kate - Sarasota, FL
good book November 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a good book, but it was a little different than I expected. It was more of a biography than a compilation of what he had learned from different trainers.
Excellent info provided September 25, 2008 This is a great book to add to any horseman's collection as it is always best to read more than one person's view on horses. The book was an easy read following Rick on his adventure in to the equine world. Rick adds valuable info and insights gleened from other notable horsemen/authors. The Tips and summations after each chapter are a wonderful addition thus creating a quick reference for future questions or slips of memory. I enjoyed reading the book and as with every author I have read, I learned a few things. Since there are no true "experts" in the horse world - meaning there is no one person that knows everything about horses - I have added this book to my "keep" pile (which hubby says is getting out of hand, but what does a golfer know about needing books on horses!!). Perhaps one day, I will have enough info collected that will culminate in a library that will have ALL the info on horses - if I live that long.
A must read for the horse owner September 23, 2008 This book while documenting Rick's quest for knowledge really reflects the journey we must all take to become partners with the equines in our lives. It is not an easy path because we must not only be physically aware but psychologically in tune with our bodies as well as our horse's. In gaining the trust of these creatures we must also give trust so we can travel together and enjoy exploring the world together. I see more when riding my horse than when walking alone because I am viewing through his eyes and ears and am made aware of flora and fauna that would be invisible otherwise.I really enjoyed this book and having been a rider for over fifty years on hundreds of horses,I recommend it.
A must for anyone who loves and enjoys riding horses. September 4, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
