Amazon.com An ideal health-tracking tool for the visually impaired, this talking household thermometer from Mabis clearly calls out temperature readings in addition to displaying them digitally. When peak temperature is recorded, it says aloud, for example, "Your body temperature is 100 degrees Fahrenheit." Designed for oral, rectal, and under-the-arm readings, the thermometer features a hard body and tapered tip with simple, raised power buttons. In 60 seconds, it delivers Fahrenheit readings that are accurate to .20 degrees, signaling peak temperature with a beep. Handy features include last-reading memory recall, automatic shut-off, and a long-life battery. Mabis includes a plastic storage case, five probe covers, and a one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard

fantastic October 23, 2008 can't say enough, being blind and having a baby has been easier owning this talking thermometer. Takes the guess work and difficulty of reading an old fashion thermometer super easy. I love it!!!
Mabis Talking Thermometer dissapointment. May 12, 2008 Ordered three. One failed out of package. That's a failure rate of 33%. Still waiting for a replacement under warranty.
Wonderful! December 29, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this thermometer. I love that it talks so I can use it no matter what the lighting conditions, and I don't have to squint. My husband needs reading glasses and often can't find them. He was very happy with his present. It works well. It repeats twice more what the reading was. There is no memory of past temps, but a pencil and piece of paper solves that.
A useful gadget August 23, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I like the fact that this talks. Not just an cute extra but lets you know when your done and very useful for those who's eyes aren't what they used to be. It has a great price tag too.
Nice price -- product is marginal December 12, 2005 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Takes about 90 seconds to register, but the voice tells you when it's done. Close enough to my B-D oral glass-&-mercury thermometer (the gold standard of accuracy) to be accepted. They point out that temperatures under the tongue do vary, depending on where you hold it, and they're right, but if you get it in the "hot spot" and hold it there, it's within one-tenth of one degree. 4 stars -- not 5 -- because it's not the easiest to hold in the right position, because of its shape. If you can live with that then go ahead and get one -- if not, get the infrared ear temperature model for 30-some dollars -- you'll be happier. 'Nuf said.
Update: just can't get it to stay in place long enough to get consistent readings -- returned -- get the infrared ear model!
