Amazon.com Product Description
Save money on monthly gym fees and get yourself in shape with the compact, comfortable Schwinn 230 recumbent exercise bike. The 230 boasts many of the high-quality features of the Schwinn 213, but adds several extras, including a nicer, easier-to-read instrument panel with a three-position angle adjustment, a slightly lower pedal height that produces a more comfortable riding position, and an easy step-through frame. And that doesn't even account for all the essentials, which range from 16 resistance levels to handlebars with an integrated heart rate monitor built into the grip.

The handiest feature, however, is unquestionably the anatomically designed recumbent seat, which not only offers a dual-position lumbar support for added comfort, but also a micro-adjustable fore/aft seat slider that accommodate a variety of body types and sizes. Other details include six preset programs (calorie goal, BMI measurement, recovery test, results mode, quick start, and manual mode), 10 profile courses, and transport wheels that both protect your floors and make the bike easy to store.

Track your time, interval time, RPM, watts, distance, pulse, speed, calories, and resistance on the 230's LCD console.

About Recumbent Exercise Bikes
Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out.

The term recumbent literally means "lying down." Exercising in a recumbent or reclining position allows the user to have full ergonomic back support, without causing strain on the arms, neck and shoulders, all of which can be common effects of using an upright bicycle. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

5 out of 5 stars Great exercise bike.   October 9, 2008
The Schwinn 320 is a great product ... but I refused the original delivery as it was terribly damaged ... subsequently purchased locally ... Amazon quickly refunded my original purchase, so that was good ... I purchase many items via Amazon and will continue to do so ... shipping of the Schwinn is a management decision/problem. Too bad they can't get a better arrangement for packaging and shipping.

1 out of 5 stars Bad Bike, Bad Company   September 30, 2008

This bike crapped out on my stroke patient father after 95 days. They gave me this nonsense that it was passed the 90 days and I would have to pay for service to get it fixed. They should have just honored it. Seriously, if you can't make a product that lasts more than 90+ days, you shouldn't be in business. I'll never buy Schwinn again.

5 out of 5 stars Comfortable, quiet workout   September 23, 2008

This bike was very easy to assemble. All parts are numbered and reference by number and picture throughout the instructions. All the tools you need are also included with the parts. Putting the seat on the rail took two persons, but the rest was a one person job.
My favorite enjoyment of this bike is it is totally silent, which was a complete surprise. Seat is very comfortable. Changing tension is very easy and increases in gradual steps to get the perfect resistance. I highly recommend this bike.

1 out of 5 stars Disaster   September 23, 2008

Ordering this thing was a disaster. I bought it as a gift. After an extended wait, the recipient got a phone call from the shipping company to the effect that the box and contents were so badly damaged that it was being returned without delivering. 3 weeks later, no delivery, no information, no response to inquiries. I canceled the order and another machine was purchased locally. This company needs to redesign their packaging.

5 out of 5 stars Best Deal for a Recumbent Bike   September 22, 2008

I have spent hundreds of dollars on gym memberships, exercise classes, home weights and exercise balls, etc. and still couldn't get my weight and blood pressure down. My wife suggested the lazy approach: Bring the gym home. So we began researching MACHINES. Long story short, the Schwinn 230 is easy to assemble, silent as a soft breeze, and easy to sit on and ride to health while watching TV or reading a book (the motion is nonexistent, so reading materials stay stationery). We drove to several stores (Sears, Sports Authority...) and NONE beat Amazon's price, NONE offered shipping (let alone free shipping), and most didn't even have it in stock.

The big package arrived 3 days later (the delivery service telephoned and arranged a drop-off time) in PERFECT condition. My wife put the bike together in an hour. I have been riding the bike now for a month and it is incredible. I've lost 6 pounds and my blood pressure has dropped. I pedal 45 minutes a day, 5 days a week, whenever I want to watch a TV program.

Basically, you cannot beat Amazon for this product. Trust me, we tried.
