Product Description
The Walkabout Rollator is from Drive Medical, one of the country's fastest growing manufacturers of Durable Medical Equipment. The rollator is equipped with loop brakes that can pulled up to stop or pushed down into a locked position. The all aluminum construction allows the rollator to weigh only 13 pounds while maintaining a strong and solid frame. It is manufactured with wrap-around welds to provide additional strength and support. The six-inch casters with soft grip tires are ideal for indoor and outdoor use. This rollator has a contour padded backrest for your comfort and can be folded flat for easy storage. It comes with a large pouch that mounts under the seat for added security of your personal items. The handle height is adjustable from 35" to 39". Weight limit up to 300 pounds.

5 out of 5 stars Great product   June 6, 2010

I purchased this for my 92 year old Mom for Christmas 2009. I went over with her what she wanted in a new rolling walker, and looked at various products that fit her "would really like" list; this one had it all. It was delivered to my house so I could assemble it before taking it to her and assembly was very easy. Mom has used it for 5 months now, and she loves it. I have asked her if she has had any problems with it, and she has yet to tell me of a problem. I have had to fold it to put it into my car a couple of times, and it is must lighter and easier to maneuver than her previous rollator, making it easy to transport.

I bought this for my elderly aunt who had been using a cane but was getting more and more anxious about falling. Her physical therapist recommended a rolling walker, and after researching, I found this one. It is lighter weight, has good brake controls, the seat height is just right, and the handles adjust for my aunt's height (important). She took to it very well and is so happy about it. She feels she can walk at a more normal pace, and in fact stands up straighter. Plus she can sit down whenever she is tired, or while waiting for an elevator. Her social worker is delighted - it is not hard to fold and put in the trunk. My aunt also loves that she can put things in the attached basket.

The one negative thing was that the first one that came had a defective hand brake and we had to return it. This was really complicated since I don't live near her and her PT had to help pack and ship. It would be better if Amazon would cover the pick up of such items -- especially since they are usually going to an elderly, and potentially infirm, population.

4 out of 5 stars Walkabout - lightest one yet   June 30, 2008

I purchased this walker for my mother who needed assistance after surgery. I had another one for my father, but when he passed away we donated it to the care center. This walkabout deluxe lite rollator is so light that it is easy to place into the car or trunk. It folds up great, and the seat is extremely comfortable. It rolls very smoothly, and the loop brakes are easy to operate, even my frail mother has no trouble locking them. I was disappointed that mine arrived with a pouch style basket, not the wire basket as pictured in the ad or the description. It still works great as a basket, just not as stable as a wire basket. For ease of use and comfort, I definately think this is perfect.

I sent this walker to my grandfather who has difficulty walking and kept falling when he went out. His current walker was almost 25 pounds far to heavy to manipulate when he went out. I just got a call, the walker was delivered today, he can pick it up with one hand. He was walking all over with it and was so appreciative. Even though I have not seen it yet in person, that is a ringing endorsement from him. Thanks for carrying this type of product.
