Use this no-frills Sunbeam-Oster humidifier to stop your artificial heating from turning you into a prune. Your skin, throat, and sinuses weren't designed to deal with dry artificial heat (or even too much dry natural heat), so breathe easier by running this cool-mist humidifier, especially at night. Fill the plastic tank (the size of a tipped-over gallon milk container) with water and rest the plug-in mist unit on top. The humidifier produces a thin stream of cool mist to humidify your air all night. This unit is little more than a refillable water tank (in translucent white plastic) with a blue steam unit that sits on top, but it does the job. It measures 13 by 11 by 7-1/2 inches and fits inconspicuously in a corner. The tank glows in the dark, so you're not likely to slam your toe into it in the middle of the night, which is a good thing, because the top doesn't lock onto the bottom. You can control some of the mist output by removing or replacing the impeller tip on the underside of the motor. The Sunbeam-Oster 644 operates for up to 24 hours with one full tank but lacks an automatic shutoff. --Richard Farr

This is a no frills humidifier. It has worked well for our family for over two years now, and we use it most nights during the winter months. It is a bit loud (about as loud as a rotating table top fan) but it can get louder if it is not cleaned out regularly, or if the lid/top is not placed on properly. It does need to be cleaned regularly, otherwise it is unsanitary. The glow in the dark feature is useful. It will make a difference in how well you can breathe, as well as help to leave your skin feeling less dry. For the money, this one has worked well for us with many months of use.

Do not try sleeping with it on, you will not be able to. Also, I do not think it works very well. The cool mist does not do a good job. I had to buy another humidifier.
