4 out of 5 stars Low Carbs and Calories, High Protein - Recommended   November 2, 2008
I found "EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control" while looking for a high protein drink to take after my morning workouts. While this product doesn't have as much protein or as strong flavor as the Slim-Fast Low-Carb Ready To Drink, Creamy Chocolate, 11-Ounce Cans in 4-Count Boxes (Pack of 6), it does have about the same protein and tastes as Atkins Ready To Drink Shake, Dark Chocolate Royale, 11-Ounce Aseptic Containers (Pack of 12) (both recommended).

This is a good option for those watching calories and carbs, while also wanting a good amount of protein.

Recommended!

5 out of 5 stars Great Taste   October 2, 2007
I just started on this product and it is fantastic! It's filling and has a great taste. It's not at all "chalky" like some other protein shakes. It is good in chocolate, vanilla and strawberry.

I have to keep my protien up and calories down, not being able to eat much quantities of food at one sitting and meat, chicken especially, being dense and hard to keep down. I would never have enough protein in my diet if I hadn't found these protein supplements. I hear people complaining all the time about the taste of protein drinks, it is a necessity though, and these are the best. I have a hard time finding them locally, All star health is fast and reliable, I have been ordering for 4 years, pretty regularly.
My fav is cafe caramel, not too sweet, and dark chocolate but all are tasty, and make a great snack, or meal replacement.

4 out of 5 stars Great! A bit of aftertaste.   July 29, 2007

Unless you subscribe to the "fats are free" hype you will want a low-carb, low-fat, high-protein drink. This is the ONLY one I have found that meets all three criteria. I like the taste and drink at least one a day, usually in the morning mixed with about 6 oz. coffee.

However, I can't agree with those who say there is no aftertaste. Offer it to someone who isn't ready to compromise for their diet and they will reject it.

For me, a busy fat guy with some concerns about glycemic control, it's wonderful. I have never found anything I like better.

5 out of 5 stars Tastes like YooHoo and that's good in my book!   May 17, 2007

Okay, here are the stats on EAS AdvantEDGE chocolate fudge carb control ready-to-drink shake: 100 calories for 11 fluid ounces, which contain 15 grams of protein and 4 total carbs. Minus 2 of fiber would be about 2 impact carbs, though the label says 1. So, either 1 or 2, depending on how you calculate it. I did say 100 calories, right?

This is my fave of the low-carb, high-protein drinks. Why? Cause it tastes like YooHoo and I grew up as a kid loving a chilled bottle of YooHoo. If that's a flavor that works for you--a sort of sweet and watery version of chocolate milk--then this might be a fine addition to your protein snack roster.

Notice I say snack. I don't think 100 calories makes for a satisfying meal. This drink doesn't carry the satisfaction punch of the gross-textured SlimFast Optima, and it doesn't carry the filling power of an Atkins shake (Eww, didn't like). But EAS Chocolate Fudge AdvantEDGE tastes good (to me), and it's low enough in calories that it's a good between meal snack to keep the blood sugar steady and the binge attacks at bay.

So, for a nice, cool, sweet, YooHoo-ey snack, here ya go. But if you are going to use it for meal-replacement, add something to it, a garden salad, some fruit and a bit of low-fat or fat-free cheese to get you up closer to a proper meal calorie range.

Oh, and shake VERY VERY VERY WELL, or you'll end up with some gross choco-sludge at the bottom of your can. That's not a good thing.

Thumbs up!
