Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Like the short ingredient list but wish it dissolved and tasted better   December 1, 2008
I have been using this protein powder on and off for almost 6 months now in various applications. I find myself a bit conflicted in writing this review because there are things I like about this product as well as things that could certainly be improved.
On the positive side, I like the short ingredient list and the fact that there are no added flavorings and sugar. This is an advantage to me for a couple of reasons. First and foremost I appreciate it because I am trying to cut back on the amount of unnecessary sugars and flavorings in my diet, and especially ingredients I cannot pronounce. I also wanted something that would be versatile enough to use in different ways and having an unflavored powder gives me the most flexibility. I have used it in smoothies with various kinds of fruit as well as in baked goods like homemade protein bars, cookies, etc. I also liked that it was made from brown rice instead of soy or whey as I eat soy quite a bit already and am trying to cut back on animal products like dairy. It is also very easy to digest.
On the negative side the biggest issue I have is with the fact it does not dissolve as well as other protein powders. It tends to clump up even when using a blender and even when distributed easily has a noticeable grittiness to it. I also find that it has a distinct aftertaste even when used in something that is strongly flavored. Its really important to mix it with other flavors like fruit in order to make it palatable. When stirred into milk or water its pretty unpleasant in my opinion.
Ultimately it comes down to a tradeoff. Many other protein powders on the market taste better when mixed with water or milk and dissolve better, but often have many added ingredients. This product is great if youre looking for few ingredients and a source of protein that is not whey or soy, but expect to give a little when it comes to taste and texture.

4 out of 5 stars recipes   August 14, 2008
I was looking for recipe ideas too. I have added it to Pamela's brownie mix so I can sneak some extra protein into my daughter's diet. I add only a tablespoon. I add a bit more water and/or oil into the mix to account for the extra dry ingredient. Don't add too much or you can taste the powder.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent source of amino acids   May 21, 2008
This rice protein has an excellent source of amino acids. It is perfect source of protein for a vegetarian. I use it daily for my protein source. I mix it up in pancake batter or muffin batter and find it taste really good that way.

5 out of 5 stars Brown rice protein, have it so what can I do with it?   March 29, 2008

I am very happy with my product, somewhere I heard it is a good thing only now I'd appreciate some ways to use it. The price was very fair and I have put it in a fruit smoothy and it's great. Any other suggestions? Wish there was a recipe booklet.
