2 out of 5 stars I like'em Old Skool!   October 16, 2008

Sorry but I can't buy into the idea of plastic speculums. First of all, using petrol-based plastic is bad for the enviroment and helps fund terrorists(if the petrol comes from the Mid-East. Let's see some certification otherwise please!)

I know some people from my commune use hide or bark based speculums, but I say that's wrong too, even if it is renewable. I mean these plastic speculums are disposable...do you want THAT leeching into your well water? ( And I'm not talking about polyethylene, polypropylene and poly-vinyl chloride).

Speculums should be made of metal! They should be steel hard and ice cold. If you don't get that uncomfortable pinch and chilling ice-cream "head"-ache, how do you know it's working? That's what I've told all my wives anyhow.

Aw, this modern world is gettin' soft and I say Nuts to it.

4 out of 5 stars Needs instructions   June 28, 2008

My only complaint is that I wish it came with instructions. Although we knew my cervix should have been opened, we couldn't see it. After 2 tries and a google search on how to use a speculum, we found out that we had it upside down!!! Much easier to use once we inserted it the correct way. Good product for the price.

I didn't have any problems at all with these speculums. The slide and lock mechanism works pretty well. It seemed a little rigid at first, but got better.

The product was as described. I cannot evaluate how "well" they perform as we decorated them for our women's group.

This product (the speculums) is excellent. They are exactly what you would expect if you are in need of them and are easy to use. It doesn't come with instructions but you can find direction for use online if you don't know how to use one.
