The bike was relatively easy to put together and is quiet and efficient. It seems to be durable enough for me and versatile enough for my wife.
 Great bike and a great buy November 1, 2008
I was somewhat concerned about ordering from Amazon based on the reviews that indicated that the bike had arrived damaged. The bike arrived in two days via UPS. There was some wear on the box, which is to be expected given the size and the weight. All of the parts were in the package. No damage at all.
The bike was a breeze to assemble. It took me about an hour. All of the tools necessary to assemble the bike were included, which was extremely convenient.
I love this bike! It has all of the features that I was looking for in the LCD screen (extremely easy to use and to view), heart rate monitor, and programmed features. The relatively small footprint is perfect for someone who doesn't have a lot of space in which to set up exercise equipment. The bike is very quiet. I didn't find the seat uncomfortable, but I do quite a bit of on-road and trail biking in the spring-summer-fall months. As other reviewers have noted, it does have a good road feel.
I, too, had researched bikes from other sources, some local. You can't beat the price, or the free shipping, for the product and the features.
 Bike arrived and console is non functional September 21, 2008
I am frustrated because I have not had good luck with online purchased exercise equipment service in the past. I decided to try Amazon and a name (Schwinn) that seemed reputable. The packaging was a bit torn up but the bike seemed to be going together fine until it was time to plug in and go. The console is not functioning. All connections are right and yet...nothing. Now I have to wait until Monday for customer service.

I purchased the Schwinn 131 bike from Amazon and it arrived in one week. The box was utterly destroyed and re-taped everywhere. The contents of the box (bike) were used and used heavily. Original styrofoam and packing material was missing, foot base has cracked in half. So, I returned it and promptly got a replacement in two days. The outside box was in a bit better shape, but the bike inside was heavily used again. Also, the replacement AC adapter prongs were bent beyond repair. The LCD was used and cracked. The parts literally would have had to have been thrown against a wall to be in this bad of shape. Totally unacceptable. Another 2 hours of time lost in unpacking and repacking. Taking my refund and going local. When you buy on Amazon they list used products in a separate area. After receiving two used, and damaged bikes, I honestly question what type of second hand goods they are selling as new. ZERO STARS FOR AMAZON. Very embarrassed to have been an Amazon customer up until now. Buy local and save yourself hours of headaches.

All the previous reviews helped me make my decision to purchase this bike. I am pleased that I did. My daughter and I both like all features, and the quality is great for the price. Everything came faster than expected, and all pieces were present and working well.
