Product Description The HerbalAire is quickly gaining a reputation as an affordable rival to the Volcano vaporizer. It features a highly efficient design and is one of the best units available for under $250. This affordable vaporizer is sure to extract every last active ingredient out of your herbs.Direct Inhalation - Extreme flavor and aroma experience with or without extensions. You choose whether you want to use the included balloons or simply inhale directly from the unit. We recommend trying both!Efficiency - The HerbalAire with or without the bag kit allows for extreme efficiency. In fact, multiple independent tests have proven the HerbalAire can extract two or more additional bags of essence from the "spent herb" of other popular vaporizers. On average we get around 5 full bags of vapor for each herb disc we fill. The Test - There is one simple way to fully understand how effective the HerbalAire is at extracting all active ingredients from herbs. Exhaust your herb of choice with any vaporizer. Place that "spent herb" into the HerbalAire. You will be amazed when the HerbalAire is able to extract around 2 more bags of vapor from these "used" herbs.Easy Setup, Compact Size - The HerbalAire is only 7" tall and 3.5" across its base. Initial setup takes about two seconds; you'll be vaporizing in under 5 minutes! This scientific grade instrument features a safe, tested design with superior temperature control.

Problems and no replacement parts November 26, 2008 I've never used the volcano, or any other vaporizer for that matter, so I can't say how this compares. Right now I would give the Herbal Aire 3 stars, but I am not hopeful for the future, so I downgraded it to 2 stars. I have had it for about a month and already the bags fill much slower than they did to begin with and I can't tell why. The pieces have been cleaned but this is a very difficult process because you cannot disassemble what you need to clean.
The worst part of the unit is the bags. They came out of the box leaking. The material used lends itself readily to creases and splits. The bags also cannot be disassembled and reassembled. The mouthpiece is attached to the balloon using a zip tie that cannot be removed without cutting it and it's not clear that that can be done without damaging the mouthpiece.
There two bags, but no spare parts at all. So, if you need a new bag, you are going to have to come up with your own plan. Amazon does not appear to sell any spare parts for this product.
If you buy this product, plan on getting only about a month's worth of hassle-free use out of it before you have to take steps.
Muy bueno August 13, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I finally quit smoking! December 28, 2007 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
The herbalAire with a few improvements could definitely earn five stars. For the latest model, I am giving it a 4 star rating. The Volcano is a 5 star vaporizer, but it also will cost you $540 - $900 new. This is the affordable alternative for those of us who want the best, but are not filthy rich yet. Here are some of my thoughts about this neat little vaporizer. Some of the things I like about it are; 1. It heats up very quickly 2. You can fill the balloon or draw from the tube directly. I prefer the balloon. 3. It does not take as much herbs as the Volcano. 4. It is not bulky or too heavy 5. No more or very little coughing. 6. Your house will not stink. 7. You can use a balloon an hour or two after you have filled it and it is still fantastic. 8. This is the most efficient way to ingest your herbs. You will get more uses out of your herbs. Here are a few of the things that could be improved; 1. It takes a while to fill the balloons. 2. The screen is not replaceable on the mouthpiece. 3. The screen could be finer, if herbs are ground too much, they can get into the balloon. 4. The balloon has no shutoff valve. It is automatic with the volcano. I have been jamming a Q-tip into the opening on the mouthpiece to keep the balloon from leaking. 5. The balloons are too small. This can easily be resolved by making a new custom bag with a couple of cable ties and the same type of bags you would use with the Volcano. 6. I forgot what number 6 is. I have recently been using the Volcano. I have also used the box and glass whip vaporizers. If you don't mind spending the $550, then the Volcano is definitely the Vape for you, but for less than half of that, I think this is a pretty decent alternative. If you are a struggling college student, buy a box and whip from ebay for $65. If you want the Volcano but you can't afford it, definitely buy this one. If you can afford the Volcano, buy the Volcano. I think this one is probably almost as efficient as the Volcano, but the Volcano rocks. After using the herbalAire and the Volcano, I am convinced that the bag (balloon) method is the best way to vaporize your herbs. Buy whichever one you can afford, and I think you will be very happy with your decision. My breathing is now much better and I no longer cough or wheeze or feel like I have to spit all the time from the smoking. As a regular smoker for over 20 years, I can assure you that I am not losing anything. In fact, I get more of what I want by vaporizing than smoking. I hope this helps, it gave me something to do. Vote Ron Paul or Al Gore.
Works great November 11, 2007 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
This is my first electric vaporizer and it works great. I've only owned it for about a month, so I can't really speak of its durability, but the temperature control is accurate and it really exhausts the herb you put in it. There is a common complaint about this unit that it takes a long time to fill the bags. I have never used the Volcano, so I can't compare it to that, but I have no complaints about the fill time. It takes like 3 minutes to fill a bag. Maybe this could be a problem if you have a room full of people waiting for it, but I don't have this problem.
There also seems to be a common concern about using plastic parts in a vaporizer because of their possible toxicity. I can't speak of the toxic vapors that may be released in this unit, but I can say a little of its construction. It is all metal below the herb crucible and up to the outlet; I assume the metal to be aluminum from the looks of it. The heating element is separated from the chamber where the herb is located, but I believe that air that flows over the element also flows through the herb. At the outlet, the material changes to Teflon where a Teflon mouthpiece and straw are inserted. The bag then connects to the straw. I'm guessing that these pieces are plastic coated in Teflon, but I'm not positive. At any rate, toxic chemicals are not released from Teflon until the temperature reaches about 660 F, according to Dupont's website. This unit's temperature control does not go above 400 F. Like I said before, I can't really speak of what hazardous chemicals could be released from the plastic or aluminum, but that's how the chamber and flow path are constructed. I've also never tasted plastic in the vapor when I used it.
The unit I got came with one mouthpiece, two straws, two bags, and an air pump and tubing. When using direct inhalation, you allow the unit to heat up (takes about a minute), and inhale from the straw without the pump connected. To fill a bag, you would connect the bag to the straw, connect the air pump to the unit and turn it on when it is heated. The external air pump makes the unit a little more cumbersome, but I actually kind of like the idea of having it external because if it breaks all you have to do is go to a pet store and get a new air pump. If it were internal, you would have to ship the unit back to the manufacturer and probably pay a hefty repair fee.
Overall, I can't really say this is worth $250, but then again, I can't really say that any of these units are worth the price you have to pay for them. However, I don't know the cost of manufacture, so perhaps they really do cost a lot to make. I've also heard negative reviews on cheaper products that sell for around $125. When you consider that this is half the price of the Volcano, it could be a really good investment if you're looking for a vaporizer. It doesn't look or feel like a cheap product and it really gets the job done. I also think there is a money-back guarantee from the manufacturer if you don't like it.
