Site makes disabled travel easier

February 12th, 2007

Bristol: A travel website providing disabled people with help and information is being launched in Bristol.

The website will be the only online resource that offers details about what suitable transport exists for disabled people wanting to travel around an area including Weston-super-Mare, Bristol, Thornbury, Bath and Radstock.

It provides local information about different forms of transport. Particularly aimed at disabled people and less-mobile people, the website is designed to be accessible to all users.

The website was established by Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and Bath and North East Somerset councils working with Bristol Physical Access Chain and an independent consultant.

Councillors from throughout the region said in a statement: “This new website delivers information such as which rail stations are step free or have ramps, what bus services are wheelchair- accessible, and what community transport is available.”
